Frost Friday

Reading: I am re-reading Altered Carbon by Richard K. Mogan and I’m a few pages from being done.  Listening to the fourth book of A Song of Ice and Fire on my iPod.  Finally found my copy of The Player of Games by Iain Banks, so I will likely re-start that or pick up Joe Abercrombie’s Before They Are Hanged.

Planning: Writing and cleaning.

Wearing: My green pants with a rip in the crotch and a comfy shirt.

Writing: Shhh, it is seekrit.

And you?

  1. Reading: I’ve been reading a lot of non-fiction, history, and literary classics lately. Trying to soak up some “primary sources” to inform my gaming and creativity I guess. Right now I’m working through some plays by Euripides.

I’m also reading Rapt: Attention and the Focused Life which is all about how and what we pay attention to, and how it shapes who we are. Fascinating stuff

Planning: Cleaning house, preparatory stuff for the vegetable garden (first time to do this!).

3rd session of Diaspora on Sunday night! We are ready to make our big prison break, and bring all our friends with us, but you know what they say about the best laid plans…

Wearing: The usual office casual/travel clothes.

Creating: I’m trying to keep to my comittment of at least one quick drawing a day, plus an hour or so of focused artwork in the evening (mostly charcoal studies and pen and ink wash right now). It’s good practice and not too onerous right now.

  2. Reading: Caught up with the 20+ episodes so far of the H.P. Lovecraft Literary podcast (hppodcraft.com or iTunes) in my iPod. Looked through my old Traveller 2300 stuff, and pondered whether to run it using Starblazer Adventures or Empire of Dust. Same with Rocketship Empires. Also wading through the embarrassment of riches that is the drivethru/rpgnow haiti relief bundle. Does anybody know if the Reign of Discordia setting for Traveller gave sector maps?
